Tsunami and Polycarbonate

It was so heartfelt seeing recordings and photos of the recent Tsunami in Japan. Reminded me of the Tsunami that flattened Indonesian Acheh. A country with technology that other countries can only dream of. A country of people with such high imagination and creativity, such hard working culture faces the inevitable Tsunami created by the ALLMIGHTY. A land where its people did not receive a prophet to guide them unlike the Muslims. Their lives are based on the belief of respect, hard work and discipline. Nuclear reactor plant built on land that receives frequent quakes and in a country which lies on one of the most active tectonic plates in the world, community were promised that the plant will be able to withstand earthquakes and that it would not endanger the community. However, the inevitable happened, radioactive leaks happened and could not be avoided, they now can only contain the radioactive. We could only pray that the radioactive can be contained from spreading and hope that the people of Japan would live through this. Japan came out strong after the WWII, the economic and technological breakthrough that they have now is proof of it. I believe Japan will come out of this even stronger and maybe they will come out with better and greener technologies. So why would a country like Malaysia still consider of a Nuclear Power plant? Malaysia is blessed oil, hydro power, the sun, biomass and so much more, yet we would want to consider Nuclear as an alternative to generating power. True enough, that we are not affected by earthquake, but our neighbor is close to an active tectonic plate as well. Remember the Tsunami that hit Acheh, Malaysia was not spared as well. My advice is, just consider other sources of energy to tap into. Be creative and innovative like the Japanese. Put ourselves in the shoes of the Japanese, how would we go ahead in the future. Shocked by the Tsunami, even more shocking locally was the news of Polycarbonate infant feeding bottles being very hazardous to health. What! This is the future generation of Malaysia we’re talking about. Whats this polycarbonate (PC), what I understand is that it is the clear type of infant feeding bottles, very clear and shiny. They add some kind of chemical for it to look clear and shiny. This chemical that they add is found to have bad effects to the infant in the long run. My god, now only they tell. Is there not any security/health standard for making infant feeding bottles? I can only pray that my children are not affected. They watch the news last night and both my eldest and second son insisted on drinking their milo at night with cups…. God save them. Even a small thing such as an infant feeding bottle could not be guaranteed safe in Malaysia, yet a nuclear power plant?
